Has Your Dog Got Fleas?

It is terrible for us to be itchy all the time.  Imagine how difficult it is for your pet dog – who cannot speak for himself.  He-it Often you can tell if your dog is anxious about his fleas, this can become an obsessive compulsive disorder where the slightest each will set him off scratching and biting.

If you allow your dog to scratch and bite this can in itself cause a lot of skin damage. 

You will need to apply a spot on flea treatment from your veterinarian every month without fail.

 

There are also treatments to prevent the fleas from breeding.  The dog’s kennel or living area will need to be vacuumed regularly and may need spraying several times to kill fleas as they hatch. 

 

Do not bathe your dog too often.  If the skin is sensitive, you could be making things worse.  If you use flea products don't wet the dog for a couple of days after applying them, you also need flea shampoos.

 

Veterinarians recommend using oatmeal and Alan Vera shampoo which can be soothing to a dog's skin

 

Your veterinarian will advise if your dog needs anti-anxiety medication, antibiotics, creams all antihistamines.

 

Remember, you decided to have a dog, please make sure you look often him properly.
